Jean Ziegler was the UN Special
Rapporteur on the Right to Food from 2000-2008. He is now a Member of
the UN Human Rights Council’s Advisory Committee, where he works as an
expert on economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to
food.

In March 2009 Jean
Ziegler was re-elected, by acclamation,
by the Human Rights
Council,
to serve a further three year term
as a member of that body's Advisory Committee.
On 17 January 2009 in
Paris, Jean Ziegler received an Honorary Decgree from Paris 8

On 10 December 2008 in
Paris, Jean Ziegler recieved the
"Prix littéraire pour les droits de l'home"
for his book "La Haine de l'Occident".
