Ioana Cismas holds a M.A. in international affairs
from the
Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva
and a
B.A. in political science and sociology from the National School of
Political
Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest. Currently, she is a
Ph.D.
candidate in international law at the Graduate Institute, exploring the
rights
and obligations of state and non-state religious actors under
international
law. She counts religion, gender and human rights, structural
prevention of
conflicts and social constructivist theory in international relations
among her
academic and research interests.
She worked for several international NGOs and as an
adviser
to the Romanian Minister of European Integration during this country’s
accession
to the European Union. Her current professional focus is on economic,
social
and cultural rights with the Project on ESC Rights at the Geneva
Academy of
International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
